Chicago Network of Intentional Communities (NIC) – discussion on Sunday, 4/11
Apr 8th, 2010 by terry
The Network of Intentional Communities (NIC), a network of collective housing throughout Chicago, is ready for more structured discussion, frugal cooking, and wild laughter. A panel from various communities will discuss their Membership Procedures process.
WHEN: Sunday, April 11 from 2-5pm
WHERE: Stone Soup Ashland House, 4637 N Ashland Ave
The panelists include representatives from the Catholic Worker House, MOSAIC, Stone Soup, Waterside, other co-ops and intentional communities.
They will share their techniques for outreach, membership criteria, turnover, addressing diversity issues, as well as other hints and tips. The notion of this panel is not as experts but more a sharing of experiences from a variety of communities and we look forward to hearing your ideas and questions too! Julie Peterson of the Waterside Coop will facilitate the conversation.
We will start with a small snack potluck so bust out some creative beverages, baked delights, or finger foods.NIC is mapping co-ops and intentional communities in the Chicago area on ChicagoCoop.net to facilitate networking and connections. Toward that end, a form to update your community information will be available. Accurate, up-to-date data makes connecting easier!
